Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh is said to be of the places still attached to the Awadhi food culture. One of the most popular dishes of Lucknow is the ‘Lucknowi Dal’. Although prepared with the same ingredients, the way it is prepared is a little different and hence the taste also differs.

Lucknowi Dal is prepared in a pressure cook. The taste differs from other Dals because a little of milk is added to the dish while preparing it. The dal is fried in ghee along with red chilli and other spices before serving it. In Lucknow, all the major dining places serve this dish.
