Fara is one of the most mouth watering dishes of Uttar Pradesh. Usually preferred as an evening snack, it is prepared during the time of festivals. The dish is a little spicy and crispy one. It is prepared out of Urad Dal and flour. The filling is made out of mashed Urad Dal mixed with certain spices. You can taste this dish even in Delhi, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The dish is made by steaming. It is served hot along wit a red chili chutney and ghee. At times Fara is also fried in ghee and served. To make the filling the dal needs to be soaked in water for an entire night. It is later mashed along with chilli and the paste is later added with amchur powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and salt and coriander powder.
