Sohan Halwa is a dessert of India and Pakistan. It is said to have originated from Persia. To taste the best Sohan Halwa one must visit the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. There the halwa is prepared as a traditional dish in ghee. The most popular halwa of Sohan Halwa is the ‘Ghantewala Halwai’. The desert is prepared by mixing water, sugar, milk and cornflour. The paste is mixed until it becomes a little solid. It addition to this almond and cardamom seeds are also added to it. Mostly in weddings and during festive seasons this halwa is prepared. In Uttar Pradesh one can taste the best Sohan Halwa at Banaras and Allahabad.
