Behdienkhlam Festival, Jowai Meghalaya India

One of the important festivals celebrated in Meghalaya is the Behdienkhlam festival. The celebration of the festival takes place in the Jowai region of the state and lasts for three days. The local deities are offered prayers to. People pray for a happy and healthy year. Rath yatras are taken out in the state. These raths are then immersed in the rivers. The women prepare special sweets. A ball game is also played between the two teams. The winning team that scores the goal on their side is said to have healthier crop that year. Mass feasts are organized in the evenings. Cultural programs are also a part of the celebration.
