The Vat Savitri Puja is a holy festival for the married Hindu women. This is the day when women offer prayers to Goddess Sarasvati. She had brought her Husband back from Lord Yama by her full dedication. Her love for her husband was eternal. On this day women around the country observe a fast for long life of their husbands.

During the celebration of the festival women offer early morning prayers to Vat Savitri. These prayers are usually offered to trees. In bhog, wheat, pulses, rice, lemon, banana and other fruits are offered. There are many other rituals also that the women follow on this day. They also bow to their husbands.
